Personal Hermes Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 8, 2026.
Purpose and access
Personal Hermes is a private, self-hosted assistant used only by its owner. It requests the gmail.readonly permission to search the owner's Gmail account, list labels, retrieve selected messages or threads, and produce summaries or answers requested by the owner.
Data use and storage
The application does not modify or send email and does not maintain a local mailbox mirror. Message data is fetched from Gmail on demand. Relevant excerpts may be processed by the language-model providers configured by the owner and may appear in the owner's local assistant conversation history. OAuth credentials and local application state are stored on infrastructure controlled by the owner.
Sharing
Google user data is not sold, used for advertising, or shared for unrelated purposes. It is disclosed only to infrastructure and language-model providers selected by the owner as necessary to provide the requested assistant functionality.
Retention and deletion
No independent long-term email archive is created. The owner controls retention of local conversation history and can remove it at any time. Access can be revoked from the Google Account permissions page; the owner can also delete the locally stored OAuth credential to stop access immediately.
Contact
This is a personal application. Contact is available through the user-support email displayed on its Google OAuth consent screen.
